Falling to Pieces
Jun. 22nd, 2007 09:21 amOk, so this has not been the best week ever.
1) My knee was more painful than ever before at the beginning of this week. So painful that I was limping, couldn't walk up or down stairs, had trouble bending it when I was sat down etc. So I went to the doctors and was given some anti-inflamitory tablets. Which work a treat. Only one problem. They've caused my DH to flare up really nastily, as well as the tiredness and a little crankiness. I've had to stop taking them, which is fine because my knee is fine now.
2) Which brings us on to point 2. My knee is starting to slip back down the slope to not fine. It's getting stiff again, starting to ache again, and hurting when I bend it to go up stairs again. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Do I take the tablets and suffer with my celiacs, or do I not take the tablets and suffer with (and potentially fuck beyond repair) my knee? Or do I go back to the doctor and see if they can give me anything else?
3) I've been proactive this week. I've finally started to cook my own gluten free foods. I made a killer soup last week, and a pie that went down a treat. Last night I tried to make corn tortillas and meatballs. FAIL! I failed so badly at them that it made me sick, literally.
I think I might just stick to easy things like soup and pie/pastry. I know that it is a trial and error thing, that it is going to take some time to get it right, but it's kind of disheartening when the food you cook makes you physically sick.
Good news now. It's the farmers market on Saturday, which means cake and bread for me. Also, I've got Saturday off, even though I was supposed to be working for the Open Day, because it's Kaz and my anniversary and someone in work meddled. Thank you Simon.
